How to Choose the Right Diaper Size
Four checks, in order — start with the number on the scale, finish with the fit signs.
- Weigh your baby first. Use your most recent weight, not the birth weight, and re-check every few weeks in the first months.
- Pick the band your weight sits inside. Where two sizes overlap (for example 6-8 kg fits both NB/S and M), choose by fit rather than by the number alone.
- Match the style to the stage. Tape diapers suit newborns and settled change routines; pull-up pants suit babies who roll, crawl and stand.
- Re-check after a growth spurt. A size that fitted comfortably last month can become tight within weeks.
Signs It Is Time to Size Up
Any one of these means the next weight band will fit better.
- Pressure marks on the waist or thighs Red marks, indentations or elastic lines left on the waist or thighs after removal.
- More leaks around the legs or up the back More frequent leaks, especially around the legs or up the back.
- The waistband will not sit flat The waistband no longer sits flat, or the tapes need to be fastened at the very edge of the landing zone.
- Full in the front, before it is wet The diaper looks and feels full in front before it is actually wet.
Size by Age: Why We Chart by Weight Instead
Search results often look for a size "by age" — one month, six months, one year. In practice, age is a poor guide on its own: two babies of the same age can sit in completely different weight bands, and growth spurts move a baby up a size within weeks. Weight is the measurement the diaper has to fit, so every Moni Happy size is specified by kilogram range. If you are unsure, weigh your baby and match that number to the chart above — and if the weight sits on a boundary, decide by the fit signs listed above rather than by age.

Do diaper sizes go by age or by weight?
Diaper sizes are determined by weight, not age. Babies of the same age can differ by several kilograms, so weigh your baby and match the number to the size chart: NB/S (2-8 kg), M (6-11 kg), L (9-14 kg), XL (12-17 kg), XXL (15 kg and above).
What size diaper does a newborn need?
Most newborns start in NB/S, which Moni Happy sizes for 2-8 kg. Because newborns gain weight quickly in the first weeks, buy a small amount of NB/S first and move up to M (6-11 kg) as soon as you see the signs of a snug fit described below.
How do I know when it is time to size up?
Size up when you see red marks or indentations around the waist or thighs, when leaks happen more often than usual, when the waistband no longer sits flat, or when the diaper feels tight and leaves the skin compressed. If any of these appear, move to the next weight band.
What is the difference between diaper sizes and diaper pants sizes?
Tape diapers are available from NB/S (2-8 kg) up to XXL (15 kg and above). Pull-up pants start at M (6-11 kg) and go up to XXXL (17 kg and above), because the pant style is usually introduced once a baby is moving and standing. Both use the same weight bands, so the size letter means the same thing on either product.
How many diapers are in each pack?
